"Hampshire is not only the place I'm proud to raise my family, but also the dynamic tech community I knew I wanted this growing company to be part of it"
John Bowers, CEO, JCC Bowers
JCC Bowers, a smart technology innovator, was founded in Basingstoke in 2015. Their first product, Cobalt Auta, transforms anyone's car into a fully connected, autonomous and artificially intelligent vehicle.
With 50 staff across four countries, JCC Bowers located its headquarters in Hampshire's key tech hub to be close to a wealth of automotive clientele, a vast number of aerospace engineering resources and a collection of top research universities. It also made sense to develop a new generation of wireless devices near a nerve center for UK wireless communications operators.
Cobalt Auta is compatible with 98 percent of automotive models worldwide, enabling millions of drivers to access features once reserved for luxury vehicles with one small device. These include remote start, anti-theft protection, parking spot memory, advanced driver-assistance services, in-car Wi-Fi and many other capabilities.
Similar to an iPhone with Siri, Cobalt Auta comes with an artificially intelligent sidekick named Cobie who learns your habits and makes your life easier. He'll notice, for instance, a meeting on your calendar and warm up the car before you step out the door. Ultimately, vehicles equipped with Cobalt Auta will gain the ability to drive themselves.
"JCC Bowers represents the leading edge of the smart device industry, expected to be worth $9.2 trillion by 2020, with a focus on connected and autonomous vehicles. Connected cars promise to transform how we move in ways that profoundly improve and optimize our lives, CEO John Bowers said. "Hampshire is not only the place I'm proud to raise my family, but also the dynamic tech community I knew I wanted this growing company to be a part of."
